MEDIA BROADCAST GmbH, Germany's largest full-service provider in the media and broadcast industry and member of the TDF Group, today announced the selection of the Dimetis BOSS LINK Manager to manage the video, audio, data and telecommunication connections across its newly proposed Broadcast NGN (Next Generation Network).
Broadcast NGN will be implemented as an extensive, IP/MPLS-based, optical network. BOSS Link Manager consists of flexible and easy-to-use connection scheduling and management. It controls the signal flow from source to destination through the various switching nodes of the network. In addition, it will be embedded into the workflow of the entire MEDIA BROADCAST operation, interfacing to the existing Billing/Order-entry system, OSS umbrella management system and Customer Order/Automation systems, as well as directly into the network switching and transport hardware.
This will allow for more efficient and automated network performance by managing bandwidth along with transmission routes, while also providing for more customer control in managing their own connections and usage costs.
Joe Kniesel, CEO of Dimetis, commented, “We’re delighted to be part of the Broadcast NGN, making it easier and more efficient for the media and broadcast industry to transport all types of services, in particular real-time video. Our value comes from providing a software control system that optimizes the flow of information not only through the physical transmission paths of a complex network, but also across the various high and low level operational components that manage it.”
