- New major contract for property protection in Sweden
- Digital monitoring system protecting supply infrastructure to be installed by mid- 2010
- Contract worth several millions of euros
Funkwerk AG (ISIN: DE0005753149) has won a new major contract involving property protection in Sweden. The company has been selected to install a video security system at the Oskarshamn nuclear power plant before the end of June 2010. The system is designed to protect supply infrastructures. The contract awarded to Funkwerk is worth several millions of euros and includes the option of further system extensions.
The Oskarshamn nuclear power plant is one of four nuclear power plants operating in Sweden and the third to be equipped with a video monitoring system from Funkwerk. The plant is located at the Baltic Coast and produces some 10 per cent of the total electricity for Sweden. The Oskarshamn nuclear power plant is one of the most efficient nuclear power plants in the Scandinavian region.
In an effort to ensure that the highest standard of security also applies to plant protection, its operator, Oskarshamnsverkets Kraftgrupp AB (OKG), has now contracted Funkwerk to install a new digital video monitoring system. The plant will be equipped with over 200 day/night network cameras and precision pantilt units from Funkwerk plettac electronic GmbH. Visualisation at the plant's operations control centre is ensured by two monitor walls with 14 monitors each and several workstations. All activities registered by the cameras are redundantly recorded by the video system and analysed.
With its highend system solution, Funkwerk prevailed against other wellknown global players in an international tender. "This new property protection project underlines the expertise of Funkwerk as a provider of security solutions based on digital networks for large and midsized plants. It has helped us as a security specialist gain a good reputation now also in the Scandinavian region. The contract will no doubt consolidate our position in the Swedish nuclear power plant sector," Gérard Monin from Funkwerk explains.
