Right on time for the HANNOVER MESSE, HARTING is extending its har-flex® PCB connector series to include additional adapters providing more space between PCBs in mezzanine arrangements. This offers developers significantly greater freedom in the design of new device series, e.g. when developing drives and robots. High performance capacitors are used here in order to absorb the braking energy from electrical drives. For technical reasons, the capacitors required for this purpose are of a certain size that necessitates a minimum distance from housings and other circuit boards. Until now, har-flex® stacking heights were available to meet this requirement – i.e. har-flex® connectors of varying heights. In order not to have to rely on ribbon cable solutions for even larger distances, HARTING is now offering a fixed connection for distances up to 53 mm in mezzanine arrangements with its har-flex® adapters.
The adapters are available for har-flex® signal versions in heights from 20 mm to 38 mm and numbering 12, 26, 50, 68 and 80 poles. The har-flex® signal connectors themselves have been optimised for use with the adapters and are now available with additional locking elements which guarantee that the adapter is secured. The adapters provide a visual indication of the side to be locked for simple, fast installation. The locking mechanism ensures that the adapter remains securely on a defined circuit board on disconnection.
With pitches of 0.8 mm to 2.54 mm, the har-flex® series offers complete freedom in the arrangement of circuit boards for the transmission of power, signals or data, whether for mother-daughter cards, extender cards or mezzanine designs.
