To make pro-domains easier for end users and registrars the registry has implemented the following upgrades:
1. Immediate activation of newly registered second level pro-domains..
Registrants no longer have to wait to activate domain names as required supplemental information is now present in the domain name object. The domain name can now become active immediately upon registration.
2. Professional data now directly tied to individual domain names.
3.Registration and activation is now a snap for registrants.
4. Streamlined professional data collection process
The professional data required upon registration to activate a domain name is reduced to only the most relevant information.
The following is a summary of the technical changes to pro-domains:
Data Collection / Credentialing
1. The professional data required on registration to activate a name is reduced to one field: Profession. This field is required to create 2nd level names, and all 2nd level names will become active immediately upon registration. Additional information may still be needed from the registrant if their name is selected for random monitoring and sampling.
2. Registrars may choose to internally store professional data for customers in the event they purchase additional pro-domains in the future. Registrar may then allow registrant to order additional pro-domains without needing to request professional information each time, and simply submit the stored data.
3. Please note that the Registrant Contact is considered the holder of the professional credential. "The Registrant Contact name and address will be used in the verification process in conjunction with the professional data submitted with the domain name",
tells the Registry.
